In Utah, we’re used to having extreme elements during multiple parts of the year. During the summer, we can experience temperatures of well over 100 degrees, long days, and intense exposure to sunlight. During the winter, we get our share of ice and snow storms, and deal with below-freezing cold temperatures from the inversion. To help combat these elements, A Plus Garage Doors offers technologically advanced insulated garage doors to keep your home insulated.
While there is some natural insulation that happens with any type of garage door, the primary way we recommend you insulate your garage is by using our steel-plated foam-injected doors. These are durable, due to the metal shell on the outside, but are able to prevent conductive temperature transfers from moving through the material, due to the foam-injection. This keeps the hot or cold outside, depending on the season.
(801) 316-3285There are two types of garage door insulation. The first, is via foam injected polyurethane. The second, is polystyrene. Polystyrene is a material that comes in sheets that looks somewhat similar to Styrofoam. This material fits in between the front and back panels of the garage door, but it doesn’t fill the entire cavity of your garage door. Doors with more polystyrene are usually thicker, but the R-value on these doors is lower.
While people’s central homes are usually very well insulated, not enough care or thought is placed on how an uninsulated garage is essentially going to transfer the heat or cold into your home, if it is attached. While you can insulate the walls of your garage, the usual way that extreme temperatures get into your garage is by moving through your door. For this reason, having an insulated garage door can keep your home comfortable, and helps keep energy costs lower.
We’ve worked hard to serve the people of Utah with garage door repair and installation services that leave them feeling satisfied. We’ve installed thousands of garage doors across Utah and, specifically, the Wasatch Front. We understand how to install a garage door to properly deal with the extreme weather that Utah so often throws at us.
