Although the purpose of garage doors remains the same throughout the world, there are many variations depending on which region you are living in. Take a look at some of the most amazing garage doors out there, and how they function.
Throughout the world, so many people have invested in showroom modeled garages to house their most precious belongings. These cars range from the slick Ferraris, to the larger Land Rovers. Each garage is completely different.
With the different cars housed inside, the design of the garage can be anything the owner wants. Choose from an assortment of garage doors from a simple two car width, to ones that open clear around the garage itself. Depending on where you live in the world, the design could be completely different.
James Bond isn’t the only one living in London with an outstanding car collection. For some living in the city it may be hard to choose between yard space, and garage capacity, but not always. In west London, one person has used a minimalist yard to create a garage beneath the surface.
For this unique garage, a lift raises up out of the ground, leaving just enough space for the car, which drives across the yard along a designated path. There it is lowered into an underground garage, where there is ample space to park.
Sometimes the content inside is more interesting than the garage itself. One garage in Portugal housed as many as 180 vintage cars, with the collection starting in the 1970s. The man who owned the garage was a car dealer, who kept the most unique cars to himself in this garage. It wasn’t till later that the welded doors were pried open to reveal some of the best cars of the time period. Just a few found inside were:
• Porsche 356
• Alfa Bertone
• BMW 501 V8
• Chevy Master
• Alfasud 1.5
• Austin A30
Although dusty, these cars are worth more than many people realize. The garage they were found in wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, but what was inside was surprisingly impressive.
Located in Germany, this automated garage sees thousands of visitors every day. The garage is automated, accommodating those who pick up their car from Wolfsburg.
On average there are usually 800 cars stored at a time. There are seven pavilions dedicated to different car manufacturers, including Volkswagen, Porsche, Premium Clubhouse or Bentley, Skoda, Lamborghini, Audi, and SEAT. Each brings a different feel for visitors touring Autostadt.
